Toybe cares for the environment
Taking care of nature is a principle, not an option. We work in an industry in which raw materials must be ecological, polluting processes had to be minimized, and logistics should be very efficient to avoid unnecessary consumption and contamination.
Toybe Global Packaging strives to minimize our impact on the environment, as an ISO 14001 accredited. We manage waste responsibly, reusing materials until the end of their useful life, and recycling by-products.
We use paper from sustainable and responsibly managed forests. That’s why we have the PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certifications.
Every Toybe’s production process is designed to emit the lower pollution as possible, contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint and comply with the European Circular Economy Strategy.
- Our main raw material is paper, chlorine-free, or bleach-free, and from sustainable sources, both virgin and recycled.
- We use water-based inks and varnishes, as well as solvent-free adhesives.
- Leftover inks from printing are recovered for reuse, reducing a significant amount of waste.
- We advise our customers to try to reduce the thicknesses of packaging as much as possible, as this also reduces the amount of waste after use.
- We select paper, inks, and other raw materials’ suppliers, considering their proximity to reduce the carbon footprint of our products.
- We reuse wooden pallets and flexible packaging, through return arrangements with customers, and we recover cleaning cloths and ink cans.
- We use environmentally friendly cleaning products with the European Ecolabel.
- All equipment and installations are constantly renewed with the necessary innovations to reduce energy consumption.
- Our water treatment plant keep the discharges clean.
- We minimize, classify, and separate produced wastes for subsequent recycling, reuse or recovery.
What will our new project involve in terms of sustainability?
- New more efficient facilities, with natural lighting and thermal insulation. They will have 4,038 solar panels on a surface area of 16,000 m2, with an installed power of 1,817.10 kWp, which will make Toybe the largest self-consumption photovoltaic solar power plant in La Rioja.
- Toybe has invested in more efficient machinery, both energetically and productively. Our new printer machine will only work with water-based inks, printed 100% on paper with maximum width, favoring energy efficiency. The pre impression process will be automatic in order to always obtain the same results and minimize material waste.
- We will have an ultrasonic tool cleaning system, reducing water consumption.
- Raw material and finished product will be managed from our facilities, grouping warehouses to reduce the carbon footprint.
- Some wastes, such as paper waste, will become into resources during the production process.
Our objective is, through our processes, to continue contributing to the reduction of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere; and to make our facilities a more sustainable and environmentally committed space.

FSC® Certification
FSC certification assures that raw forest materials come from rationally harvested forests in accordance with the principles and criteria set out by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC). The FSC marks the minimum levels of good management for forests worldwide.
The company is subject to an assessment of its forest production line that goes from the tree to the finished product, to ensure that the wood comes from a well-managed forest. If this assessment is positive, the company is given Chain of Custody Certification.
PEFC Certification
The forest-based products, such as paper, certified by PEFC come from sustainably managed forests. By choosing PEFC we help combat illegal logging and maintain ecosystems and biodiversity.
